October Favorites
- The Biggest Pumpkin Ever We read this one as part of our ELA curriculum last year, and it quickly became a favorite! Two mice fall in love with the same pumpkin and learn to work together to make it become the Biggest Pumpkin Ever!
- Room on the Broom Friendship + Sharing and not at all spooky=winner!
- I need My Monster I use to read this to my class of third graders each year, now my own kids love it so much that it’s read most nights during the month of October!
- Creepy Carrots This one was new for us this year-it is so precious. My six year old loved the clever ending as much as I did!
- Too Many Pumpkins This one is timeless. and I love the focus on using what you have to bless others!
- The Scarecrow This is another beautifully illustrated one that focuses on friendship and connection. I love this one for Fall!
- Bone Soup If you’re looking for something Halloween-y and not scary, this spin off of Stone Soup is yucky-enough to fit the bill. Soup with eyeballs in it, anyone?
November Favorites
- Turkey Trouble This book has humor and an unexpected ending…it allows your child to make predictions through its repetitions of events of the trouble this turkey gets into! It’s humorous and fun!
- Bear Says Thanks We love this entire series, so it makes sense this would be in our top 10!
- 10 Fat Turkeys Oh, the crazy things turkeys do! This allows your child to count and be active participants while reading this story 🙂
- How to Catch a Turkey A turkey is loose in a school. Are you intrigued, yet? All the books in this series are so cute and silly! This is definitely one to read each year.
- Thanksgiving Parade & Balloons Over Broadway Both of these books talk about the famous Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC! (Which watching it is my personal favorite Thanksgiving tradition!). I’ve included both books here as they are both great for little ones up to age 8 or so!
- Thankful This book can be used in so many ways… it prompts the reader to look at everyday jobs and people in new ways to express appreciation for them. It is so heartwarming!
- Thank You, Omu! There’s a reason this book is a Caldecott award winner! The pages are filled with beautiful collages with so many parts to notice. This is a great book about generosity and is one of my personal favorites!
Oh, I hope you protect time to curl up and read with your Littles this season! Happy Reading!
