Yes, you read that correctly-there’s two freebies this month available for you over in the Resource Library! February is my favorite month, and I think I could do Valentine/pink and red inspired crafts and projects all year long! Are you a subscriber? Here is a simple craft I did with my bestie this past week. We made something similar last year, and it was awesome to watch her take over all the steps this year! We sent these to grandparents in hopes they’ll make it there by Valentine’s Day!
The template is available for you here! (Get the password by being a subscriber!)
I printed it on cardstock and used tissue paper squares in Valentine colors. You could also have your Little one rip construction paper (hello, fine motor skills) or use magazine pieces to achieve the same goal. If you do use tissue paper, don’t waste you time cutting the paper! Just buy the precut tissue squares #yourewelcome. I used these.
Another favorite over in the Sloop household has been these counting sticks using conversation heart candy. Depending on your child’s age, this was a fun game to make WITH them. My girl helped me count out the pieces during assembly which was an added bonus to her actually learning from playing the completed game.
I simply glued conversation heart candy on tongue depressors (wood craft sticks), each stick holding numbers 1-12. The goal was for my Little one to count each candy on the stick and find the matching number heart to add on the top of the stick. I used self-adhesive velcro dots for this!
This activity was great for rote counting (learning the order of numbers) and for number identification! You could easily do numbers 1-5, 1-10, or 1-12, depending on the level of your child (you can’t really do anything higher than 12 because the sticks aren’t that long!).
I printed the heart numbers on cardstock and laminated them. They’re available over in the Resource Library, too! Click here.
In case you’re wanting some other fun Valentine inspired ideas, be sure to check out my IG feed! We have had fun making HUGS to send to family and friends this month as well as projects inspired by the book My Heart is Like a Zoo.
Aren’t these HUGS so cute? On the reverse side of the mittens, it says,
” Here is a hug with a handmade touch,
just to tell you I love you this much!”
There are so many more projects and crafts I could share, but I need to stop myself! Be sure to get your freebies and mostly, have fun #makingsomemagic with your Littles this month!
